Temecula California

The city of Temecula is located in southwestern Riverside County near the Riverside/San Diego county line. Incorporated in 1989, Temecula has undergone a tremendous boom over the past decade. This master-planned community is home to more than 100,000 residents and had been growing at one of the highest paces in the nation prior to the recent slowdown in economic activity.  The Temecula area offers all the benefits of suburban living while still offering the beauty and peace of a country lifestyle.

The city is nestled in the Temecula Valley surrounded by the Santa Rosa Plateau to the west, Palamar Mountain to the south and the San Jacinto mountain range to the east. The area is known for it’s low crime rate, great schools, access to a wide variety of recreational activities, and as a great place to raise a family.

The sprawling community features homes all types and sizes, open spaces, retail outlets galore and several Indian gaming casinos and resorts.

Temecula has a very moderate climate. The temperature normally averages between 65 and 85 degrees most times of the year. The warmest month is usually July, but cool breezes rolling off the Pacific make their way through local canyons and valleys most afternoons.

Although the city’s roots date back to 1882 when the California Railroad came through the valley and local investors created the first Bank, today the city has found a balance of history and progress.  The city has seen steady job growth led by the health care industry.  The city’s largest employer is Abbott, maker of vascular stents and other products. The company recently expanded its operation by adding 300,000 square feet.

Temecula has a rapidly growing business community with dozens of local shopping centers, a local mall, three major medical centers and many business owners who work for themselves locally.

Activities

One of the features of the community is its Wine Country featuring more than 10 different wineries, many with great restaurants as well as free wine tasting. There are a number of bed-in-breakfasts for those who wish to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the wineries for more than just a day.

Recreation is not a problem whether you are a child, young adult or parent. Temecula offers two large sports parks, championship golf courses, wine tasting, a vast choice of restaurants, a local mall (The Promenade at Temecula), several movie theatres as well as a community center complete with indoor basketball courts and a swimming pool.

If you are looking for something a little more festive, Temecula offers many different activities in it’s southern region considered “Old Town Temecula”. There are various antique shops, home-style restaurants and events held throughout the year including Old West Days, the Temecula balloon and wine festival, the Temecula Rod Run, the Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival and the Tastes of the World Festival.

For those who are more interested in the natural aspect of the area, Temecula is within minutes of the Santa Rosa Plateau, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Lake Skinner and the Diamond Valley Reservoir providing access to boating, hiking, fishing and camping as well as beautiful scenery. Temecula’s centralized location provides easy access to beaches, metropolitan nightlife, San Diego and Mexico.
